RAMEN IZAKAYA KAZUSHI @ SOLARIS MONT KIARA, KL

Ramen Izakaya Kazushi‘s owner is probably an ex-footballer who played for the Japanese national team. Either that, or he’s an avid fan and collector of memorabilia and signed collectibles of the said team. From what we saw that night, this casual eatery is popular with Japanese expats hanging around after work.

Gyoza
The menu here is quite simple and features a number of Japanese home cooked-style dishes. If you are looking for a fancy meal this is definitely not the place to be. Gyoza @ RM12 – plump in meat filling and encased in a lightly chewy wrapper. This simple dish hardly goes wrong in the hands of a competent chef.
Tonkatsu
Tonkatsu @ RM22 seems to be a specialty here so we ordered one to try. It was just alright and nothing compared to Tonkatsu by Ma Maison’s.
Gekikara Ramen
None of the ramen really appealed to us except for the Gekihara Ramen @ RM18. It’s supposed to be an ultra-spicy ramen but the spiciness is actually just right. If the noodle gets any spicier I don’t think it would taste very nice.
Salmon Teriyaki
I would advise against ordering the Salmon Teriyaki @ RM18, not because it’s bad or anything, just that the miserable portion does not justify the price tag.
Ramen Izakaya Kazushi Mont Kiara
Overall, the food we had was OK, none of them was terrible nor great. I don’t know why but I have a nagging feeling that the experience was somewhat underwhelming for the amount we paid. The total was more than RM80 inclusive of service charge and GST.
