While durability tests are frowned upon by many, they are certainly good indicators of how sturdy – and well-built – a particular device is. The latest device to be tested is Lenovo’s brand new Moto Z: measuring only 5.2mm thin, can it survive the increasingly standard bend test?
This durability test came from none other than YouTuber JerryRigEverything, who was well-known for his Nexus 6P bend tests. To test the durability of a particular device, the YouTuber puts said device through a series of tests, which involve some scratching, an open flame, and of course, a bend test.
Seeing how the Moto Z measures a mere 5.2mm thin, common sense would dictate that it would be a pretty easy device to bend. However, as the video above shows, the Moto Z – surprisingly – survived the bend test.
This will certainly please those who were sceptical of the Moto Z’s durability. While the device’s fingerprint scanner can be easily scratched, normal daily use shouldn’t render it unusable. After all, this durability test – as its name suggests – is meant to find out just how durable the Moto Z really is.
The Moto Z is set to be available worldwide from September 2016 onwards, although the availability and retail price of the device in Malaysia have not been revealed yet. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on this modular – and well-built – smartphone’s Malaysian availability.
