Lenovo Tech World 2016: Lenovo Announces New Phab 2 and Phab 2 Plus Smartphones


Besides the headline act Phab 2 Pro, Lenovo also announced two new smartphones for the new Phab 2 series. The Phab 2 and Phab 2 Plus offer a surprising amount of features at their respective price points, including dual rear cameras and 3GB of RAM.
The Phab 2 Plus is the mid-range entry of the series, offering a mix of premium hardware with some modest compromises. It runs on a MediaTek MT6873 octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, and features 32GB of expandable storage (up to 128GB microSD cards), a 6.4-inch Full HD IPS display with 2.5D curved glass, a 4,050mAh battery, triple-array microphones with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio Capture 5.1, and a hybrid dual-SIM tray (micro + nano SIM, or micro SIM + microSD).

The rear camera is made up of two 13MP sensors with an f.2.0 aperture and large 1.34 micron pixels. It uses laser-guided PDAF, and uses a Fujitsu Milbeaut image signal processor.
On the other hand, the Phab 2 is Lenovo’s new entry-level smartphone. It runs on a MediaTek MT8735 quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage (up to 128GB microSD cards), a 6.4-inch 720p IPS display, a 4,050mAh battery, triple-array microphones with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio Capture 5.1, and a hybrid dual-SIM tray (micro + micro SIM, or micro SIM + microSD).

As for cameras, the Phab 2 features a 13MP PDAF sensor at the back, and a 5MP wide-angle shooter at the front.
Both the Phab 2 Plus and Phab 2 smartphones will be available in Champagne Gold and Gunmetal Grey, and will be available globally in September 2016. The Phab 2 Plus will be priced at $299 (around RM1,210) while the Phab 2 will retail for $199 (around RM800).
