Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe May Ship with Snapdragon 821 or 823 Processor

The Asus ZenFone 3 series was launched just last week at Computex 2016. Yet, there are already rumours that the highest-end device in the lineup – the ZenFone 3 Deluxe – will not only be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor: it may be equipped with the unannounced Snapdragon 821 (or even the 823) chipset as well.
Originally, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe was believed to feature a Snapdragon 823 chipset for certain Asian markets; these include The Philippines and India. More recently, however, what seems like a leaked product catalogue is suggesting that the ZenFone 3 Deluxe will ship with a Snapdragon 821 processor instead.

While this may seem confusing, rumours circulating both chipsets – the Snapdragon 821 and 823 processors – are saying that they are simply overclocked versions of the Snapdragon 820 chip. If this is the case, the Snapdragon 821 and 832 may just be the very same processor, although this is merely an educated guess.
Regardless of that, we may be looking at several different variants of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe for different markets; this isn’t exactly unheard of, especially for Asus. What still remains to be seen is if the Malaysian market will receive the Snapdragon 820 or 821/832 variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe. Hopefully, we will find out more as we approach the month of August: that’s the tentative launch date of the ZenFone 3 series in Malaysia.
