Leak: Intel’s Roadmap Shows Skylake-X And Kaby Lake-X CPUs Release Dates

Folks over at BenchLife have leaked Intel’s future roadmap plan, which shows the expected release dates (sort of) for both the Skylake and Kaby Lake Extreme Edition processors. According to the leaked roadmap, Intel is said to be planning to release both “X” variants of Skylake and Kaby Lake processors in Q2 2017.
Releasing “X” variants of its new generation of CPUs a year later isn’t something new to Intel. However, when looking at the leak, Intel is planning to release the Extreme Edition version of Kaby Lake processors alongside the the Skylake model, which has never been done before by the company.

In addition, sources are saying that both processors will be retaining the 14nm manufacturing process like their predecessors, but the Kaby Lake variant will come with a significant performance increase – of course. Speaking of which, consumers should also expect a chipset change when both processors are introduced.

Despite this, it the origins of the leak by BenchLife seems rather vague; especially when considering the rather expedited timing of the planned release of the Kaby Lake “X” processor. As with any other rumours that circulates the Internet, one should take it with a hint of scepticism and of course, a healthy teaspoon of salt.
