Own a Samsung Galaxy Note 5? Guess what: you can make the rear glass cover look like the unit above. That is, if you’re daring enough to take off the rear panel by subjecting it to some heat. Did we mention you’d need a razor blade as well?
The clear Note 5 above belongs to Reddit user Skarface08. While he was taking apart his unit (for an unspecified reason), he mentioned that he messed up the film behind the glass. He then decided to just tear the film off, which leaves behind a clear, see-through glass panel.
In order to do this, he had to use a heat gun to make it possible to remove the back panel with a suction cup. Once that’s done, he let it cool for a while before using a razor blade to start peeling the film off of the glass. He then simply place the rear panel back on to the Note 5 – he said the device itself already has adhesive to hold the panel. While this may sound simple enough, this will more than likely void the device’s warranty, not to mention the chance of accidentally damaging some sensitive electronics.
Transparent electronics certainly have some sort of appeal to them. Take the LG Fx0running on Firefox OS, for example; it features a see-through body that shows off the phone’s innards in all their glory. It would be nice if more smartphone manufacturers start offering a transparent device as an option.
