Notebook vendors see growing demand

Notebook brand vendors have recently started turning aggressive in placing orders and are expected to see strong shipment performances in October and further growth in November as demand for Windows 10-based devices begins picking up, according to sources.
Consumers have started purchasing Windows 10-based notebooks and inventory levels at retail channels are dropping, said the sources with notebook vendors.
Prior to Windows 10's release, demand for notebooks was weak as consumers were waiting for the new operating system. During the period, most brand vendors were conservative about placing orders and some even took delivery of only 85% of their orders.
However, starting September, brand vendors have turned aggressive in placing orders. In addition to the fact that consumers are gradually growing familiar with Windows 10, Intel's new Skylake processors have also helped boost demand.
The sources noted the free upgrades to Windows 10 will dedlay hardware replacement demand. While most consumers' PC hardware is still able to run the new operating system, the weak performance is expected to prompt them replace their devices sooner or later.
As for the Chromebook, with Acer's success in the segment, many other vendors such as Asustek Computer, Dell and Hewlett-Packard (HP) have also released related products, pushing into the enterprise and education segments.
